Silkstone Primary School

A School with Soul

Computing

Intent

We want to ensure that our pupils are equipped with the skills to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and engage with the world around them. We want them to be critical thinkers and empower them to become digitally literate – able to use, and express themselves and develop their ideas through information and communication technology. We want our children understand the digital world in which they live and be active participants of this.

Implementation

The delivery of our computing curriculum will provide opportunities for pupils to be taught the principals of information and computation, how digital systems work, and how to put this knowledge to use through programming. Building on this knowledge and understanding pupils will be equipped to use information technology to create programs, systems and a range of content. We will ensure children have the opportunity to use a range of different software and digital media. Our curriculum will also pay due regard to the changing online safety needs of all pupils. Our computing curriculum has deep links with mathematics, science, PSHCE and design and technology, and provides insights into both natural and articificial systems.

Impact

Our pupils will be resilient and skilled to meet the needs of our ever changing digital world and the demands of this. They shall be active partictpants of this and be equipped to use computational thinking and creativity.
