In class 6 our class teacher is Mrs Morgan and our teaching assistant is Mrs Horsfield. We are a happy class of 32 pupils and we encourage each other to be the best that we can be!

The children can receive a range of rewards for doing well. We have a marble jar and we can collect marbles when we are working well together as a team. Once we fill the jar, we have a class treat! The children can also earn certificates to be taken home or take an item from the goody bag for individual rewards. The sticker cards will still be used and stickers are given for trying really hard.

We are looking forward to our trip to Chester Zoo on Wednesday 25th March, which ties in with our learning about the rainforests in Geography lessons and our learning about animal classification in science lessons.

Your child is able to take a book home from the class room. We just ask that the reading record is handed in on a Friday so that we can see how reading is going at home.  Spellings will be given on a Friday ready to be tested the following Friday.  In year 6 individual times tables are practiced and tested regularly. The tests are completed within a time limit so they require rapid recall. It is necessary to know the multiplication and division facts off by heart.

This year, P.E will be taught on Tuesdays and Fridays so your child will need a P.E kit on these days. In art lessons we aim to get creative, which can usually be very messy! If you have a spare old shirt or apron, then we would really appreciate these being brought into school to keep your child’s school uniform clean this year.

This term our topic is South America and the Rainforest.

As part of our BBC Ten Pieces week, we listened to The Firebird by Stravinsky and created some wonderful art work.

Team Active led a Wellbeing Workshop.  We developed our understanding of the five ways to Wellbeing and had a lot of fun too.

Art

We have been exploring Rousseau's jungle pictures and creating our own layered paintings.

We have designed and are making Rainforest Creatures in Design and Technology.  We are looking forward to seeing the finished result.
